Tamarron

Tamarron is a five-piece psychedelic pop band based in Austin, TX. The group builds undulating dreamscapes that tunnel into propulsive jams – expansive songs that ultimately cohere under structural precision and a respect for pop sensibility. Cascades of organ and synthesizer drift over tight, orbital riffs, warm melodies, bombastic drums, and galloping bass. Tastes of Stereolab, The Beatles, Emmitt Rhodes, Todd Rundgren, The High Llamas, and Can. Tamarron cohered into its current form organically, over several years in Austin’s tightknit DIY community. Collectively the band represents a immense range of influence but the 5 members (Chad, Samjay, Sam, Jake, and Steve) are united by a love of classic rock, especially its fringes. Tamarron began as the bedroom recording project of small town Texas native Chad Doriocourt. After moving to Austin for college, Doriocourt met bassist/songwriter Samuel Jacobson on craigslist. Upon meeting, the two realized they already had mutual friends, one of whom was future drummer Samuel Houdek. Jacobson then met keyboardist/recording engineer Jake Moon while interning at local analog studio Big Orange, where Moon worked for over five years while attending the University of Texas for recording. Moon had already logged a grammy as an assistantengineer and was known around town for his technical proficiency. Not only did Moon have extensive knowledge in recording and experimental sound, but he played piano and had originally studied vocal performance, making him a perfect fit for keys/vocals. By early 2015 Houdek, already a fixture in the local music community, began playing drums. That summer the band released their first album Dadrock through a local tape label. In the fall of 2016 Stephen Scholz was added on second guitar. The members of Tamarron keep busy as contributing musicians to a cohort of related bands, but over the past year they’ve focused on writing and recording Let’s Get Out, a batch of songs that, while written collaboratively, germinate from lead man Chad Doriocourt.
