Lewis Porter

Lewis Porter, pianist, educator, author, has performed across the USA and Europe and was nominated for a Grammy in 1995. He appears on 33 albums with Dave Liebman, Marc Ribot, Gary Bartz, John Patitucci, Terri Lyne Carrington, Tia Fuller and others. Critics write that his music makes “a beautifully creative whole" and that he is “a first-rate pianist.” Holding a Ph.D. in musicology, he is well-known as an educator and author, most notably of a celebrated book on Coltrane. A long-time former music prof at Rutgers-Newark and at Tufts U, he has also taught at The New School, Manhattan School, NYU, William Paterson, and Brandeis, as well as guest teaching across the USA and Europe and privately online.
