Danielle Dougherty

Danielle Dougherty, a Philadelphia based jazz vocalist, always jokes that she learned to sing shortly after she learned to talk. Following her graduation from the vocal program at The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, she decided to continue to pursue her music studies. After performances with the Philadelphia All City Jazz Band, Danielle began to move towards forming her own band of musicians to play music with, which she found in abundance at Temple University. As a current senior Jazz Studies/ Vocal Performance major, she feels lucky to renew her love of this music every day in her classes, lessons, and ensembles. Danielle is the vocalist for the Temple University Jazz Band under the instruction of professional trumpeter, Terell Stafford. She has studied voice with Najwa Parkins and Bruce Barth, and has had the privilege of learning from amazing musicians like Tim Warfield, Dan Monaghan, Tom Lawton, Greg Kettinger, and many more in her time as a student at Temple. This past year, Danielle recorded vocals on a total of 33 tracks for Micah Graves’ project, “Not For the Ordinary”. The first installation, “Not For the Ordinary: Med Nama”, premiered on New Year’s Day. It is now streaming on all platforms. Three more albums are set to be released from this project, and pending COVID, the eight-piece band is set to tour with Micah’s original compositions this summer.
