Continental Drift

Continental Drift is a 9 piece from Austin formed 3 years ago. Several of us found ourselves coming out every week to a Hard Proof residency the year before and were so inspired we decided to create a band that played music influenced by 70's Afrobeat. Over the next 6 months we gathered musicians together and started carving out what would be our own sound. Continental Drift's debut vinyl LP 'The Tide' pays homage to a unique variety of influences, from 70's Afrobeat to South American cumbia to deep psychedelia from all over the globe. The Tide features 2 songs produced by Grammy winner Adrian Quesada: "Estamos Locos," and "Sunday Morning." The latter is a cover of 70's Zamrock band AMANAZ, and features Alex Maas (The Black Angels) on vocals. The rest of the songs were produced by bandleader David Dalton and recorded by Chico Jones.
