Benjamin Sutin
Benjamin Sutin has been residing in the greater NYC area for over ten years where he has made a mark as an eclectic, diverse and sought after violinist in a host of musical genres including jazz, latin jazz and klezmer, all of which have inspired his own original music. Sutin began his career in Philadelphia, where he studied with legendary jazz violinist, John Blake Jr. He has since performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, NJPAC, Lincoln Center, The Apollo Theater, Birdland Jazz Club, and The Kennedy Center, and has worked with the likes of David Amram, The Big Apple Circus, the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene, Banda Magda, Vince Giordano, Larry Harlow, and Bobby Sanabria (who’s latest album which Benjamin appeared on, “West Side Story Reimagined” was nominated for a Grammy and won the Jazz Journalist Association’s Record of the Year). As a band leader Sutin has performed to sold out crowds in venues such as the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, City Winery, Cornelia Street Cafe, and World Cafe Live. With three albums under his name, his latest, “Hard Bop Hanukkah”, released on MEII Enterprises has garnered critical acclaim by Downbeat Magazine, Regina Carter and David Krakauer, to name just a few. Sutin will be back in the studio in the Fall of 2022 to record his fourth album. Benjamin graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 2015 with a BM in Jazz Violin Performance where he studied privately with jazz violinist, Sara Caswell. Benjamin currently plays violin for Temple B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, NJ and performs weekly concerts to the vulnerable communities of NYC through an organization called Concerts in Motion. When not performing you can find Benjamin teaching private lessons in violin, piano, jazz and improvisation throughout the greater New York City area, helping students with such achievements as being accepted into some of the nations most prestigious college level jazz programs, NYC’s top music and arts high schools and gaining award-winning recognition in notable nationwide competitions. Sutin is also a substitute jazz violin instructor at Manhattan School of Music’s Pre-College program and teaches violin and piano lessons at Mark Murphy’s Music in South Orange, NJ. bensutinmusic.com https://linktr.ee/bensutinmusic
