Balto

Balto plays unbridled American rock’n’roll – with biting cynicism, swagger, and rip-your-heart-out live energy. This is a band formed the old fashioned way – chance meetings through friends of friends - four life-long musicians from four states, playing at the intersection of so many strands of indigenous American music – that tradition that runs from Son House to Sun Ra, from Mississippi John Hurt to the Alabama Shakes. After a busy 2015-16 that saw several festival appearances, an Alaska tour, a Russia solo tour (Dan only), and the release of a 7" Vinyl, Balto has put the finishing touches on its next full length LP. Recorded over a two week period in rural Oregon, the album is a coming of age for the band, from pensive, anxious minimalism to boozy, balls-out wailing. The lead single, CA LUV, dropped in late August, while 'Born Astray' and it's woozy music video were released in October.
