Bacon, Lettuce and North

The organ trio that is Bacon, Lettuce and North came about under the wingspan of the late, great saxophonist, Robert “Bootsie” Barnes, on the bandstand at Ortlieb's Jazz Haus, in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia, going back over a quarter century. Drummer Byron Landham (Bacon), organist Lucas Brown (Lettuce), and saxophonist Victor North all share a deep commitment to the Philadelphia sense of swing as it was instilled in them through musical experiences with many of Jazz’s greatest masters. All three musicians also each spent time in the band of organist and multi-instrumentalist, Joey DeFrancesco, and today they continue to celebrate the “take no prisoners” style of swinging in the Philadelphia Jazz Organ Trio tradition.
