Angelina Kolobukhova

Angelina Kolobukhova was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus and started singing when she was 9 years old and has also had formal classical piano training. She was introduced to jazz by her early mentor Veronika Yanovskays and has been performing jazz and popular music as well as neo-soul in her hometown and travelling for international competitions in Europe, participating in workshops and connecting with fellow artists. Her first favorite artists were Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles as well as Jill Scott, and when she was 17, she released her first single ‘Off the Road’. After graduating high school, she received an academic scholarship and moved to New York to pursue an undergraduate degree. During those years, she discovered more and more jazz though the New York City scene and started writing her own vocalese lyrics to instrumental solos. During that time, she has also got a chance to study with Peter Eldridge and Rosana Eckert who have been great inspirations and mentors. Later she started performing and sitting in around New York City, and most recently through the Boisey Lowery Living Jazz Residency she got the chance to sing at the 2021 Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Wilmington, Delaware. Angelina just started her senior year of an undergraduate degree in Music with a Jazz Studies concentration at Adelphi University’s Honors College.
